Fanstastic film. Raj Kapoor not a favorite star, but he did some powerful acting in this film. Iftekhar as the nasty landlord - 5 stars- Of course Waheeda ji is not only beautiful but a fantastic actor. Well done all around.

A must watch movie for those who understand good hindi...Phanishwar Nath Renu's story and dialogs make this movie a masterpiece. On top of that the Shankar Jaikishan's Music and Shailendra's Lyrics are one of the best that Bollywood ever produced. Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rahman added soul to these characters. Fun Fact - Renu named one of his daughter as Waheeda Rahman. Sad Fact - Both Shailendra (Producer and Lyricist) and Renu were broke and in debt after working in this movie. Shailendra died soon after and Renu left bollywood to work as reporter.
